Skip counting. Skip counting. Skip counting. Who cares? Is it just something teachers invented to torture us?
We saw that it is good for figuring out pictographs. Would you believe it's also the most helpful trick for when you're multiplying and you're stuck?!?!😲
Do the top of page 4 (Multiplication using skip counting Part 1) in your red math photocopying. You don't need to send a picture.
Watch the video.
Do all of page 141 and 142 (PDM3-8) and send me a picture. Remember to make a Title for the bar graph on p.142!
Watch the video below.
Today we're reading chapter 6 of Stone Fox. Choose one of these:
read it to yourself
listen to me read it (blue button below)
watch a video of someone reading it by clicking the video below
Remember we learned that good writers "Show, Don't tell"? Instead of saying, "He got mad," they might write, "His face turned red," or, "His fists squeezed closed."
What do you think the author is showing when he says on p.48: Little Willy felt 10 feet tall. He was grinning from ear to ear.
Turn to p.8 in your Stone Fox photocopies.
Backwards day! Start with vocab. Find 2 of the vocab words and write definitions for them.
Now write 2 complete sentence answers at the bottom of the page. If you still have time, you may write another sentence answer OR do p.9 - label and colour the picture of Stone Fox.
If you have worked hard and run out of time, you do not need to do all of the answers or p.9
Send me a picture of page 8. I will pick the best sentence answer and hand out the trophy on Monday! If you're proud of what you did on p.9, send that, too!
Today's winner wrote 2 complete sentence answers, copying parts from both questions! She even put capitals in all the right places!
If you have not spent 45 minutes yet on Stone Fox, find a comfy spot and read for the rest of the time.
On the bottom of your Stone Fox page, write one Wonder Word. A Wonder Word is one you would like to know the meaning of, or would like to spell.
On page 50 in Stone Fox the dogs "strutted in unison". In this short video, the soldiers strut in unison. Strutting is when you walk with your knees coming up high.
What it's like to ride behind a dog sled team. Watch till about 2:15.
by WhatsApp is easy.

Today, we will hear about the return of Jacob's sons to Egypt. They were not exactly looking forward to this trip. We will hear about God's wonderful plan, we will get to see what the Holy Spirit can do with renewing people's hearts.
French will have to wait until we are back in school. Hopefully that will be soon.

Jacob’s Sons go to Egypt Gen 42, 43 (2 stories)
The famine was bad in all the lands. Jacob and his family were running out of food, so Jacob sent 10 of his sons to Egypt. He had heard that grain could be bought in Egypt. Benjamin stayed home. Jacob did not want anything to happen to Rachel’s son.
When Joseph saw his brothers, he treated them roughly and called them spies. He said that they had come to find the weaknesses in Egypt so they could conquer or destroy it. The brothers told Joseph about their family, but Joseph threw his brothers into prison for 3 days.
Why did Joseph treat his brothers like this? He wanted to find out whether they had changed.
Then Joseph let them take their grain and go home. To make sure tht they would come back, Joseph put Simeon in prison and told them that he would only be released if they would return with their youngest brother, Benjamin. Joseph also put their money/silver back into their sacks of grain.
When the brothers returned home and told Jacob what had happened, Jacob was very upset/ angry. Jacob told his sons that he would not let them take Benjamin back with them to Egypt. He said that he already lost Joseph and now Simeon was gone too. He did not want to lose Benjamin as well.
